Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra
December 6, 2009
Event Description :
If you’re like most Filipinos in America, the Holiday season makes you yearn and pine for the kind of Christmas we have in the Philippines. The Simbang Gabi, the puto bumbong and bibingka, the parols, and of course, the caroling. Most people have memories of going from house to house as children, singing “Ang Pasko ay sumapit…” and ending with “Thank you…thank you...ang babait ninyo, thank you”, once money has been given. And for the adults, listening to children and choirs caroling during the Yuletide season is something that is surely missed in America. This coming Christmas, treat your family to a most superb caroling experience, Pinoy style.

Loosely translated to “FASO’s Gift for Christmas,” Handog ng FASO sa PASKO will celebrate the joyful spirit of Christmas back home in the Philippines. Christmas is the most anticipated season of the year, and singing carols is a regular tradition practiced in Filipino culture. With its more than 60 members, FASO will share its gift for Christmas with traditional Holiday songs both in English and Tagalog. The event will also feature renowed soloists and a mixed Filipino chorale group and children's choir.

The Christmas Concerto will be conducted by FASO Maestro Robert “Bob” Shroder. “This is going to be very exciting,” said Bob. “It is the first time this will happen in LA - a full symphony orchestra, a chorus and a children’s choir - all coming together to present the real spirit of a Filipino Christmas - ang Paskong Pilipino. So, we’d like to invite everybody, young and old, to come and join us in the concert.”

Ever since their gala concert last May, the FASO acceptance and admiration from the Fil-Am community. “We are truly grateful for the positive impact FASO has had in the community. The show shouldn’t be missed by any Filipino in LA. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate a truly Pinoy Christmas - with no less Christmas caroling a Pinoy will hear in LA,” said Bob excitedly.
